It is important to stay well hydrated. Drink water regularly throughout the day following your treatment.
Treatments are an ongoing and collaborative process. A follow-up review assessment can be booked if needed.
COSMETIC AESTHETICS AFTERCARE
In the first 2 hours following treatment

You may experience reduced pain and temperature sensitivity in and around the treated area. Take care with hot drinks and food during this period, particularly if the lips have been treated.
In the first 24 hours following treatment

Apply a cool compress for a few minutes at a time if needed to manage swelling

Avoid massaging or applying pressure to the treated area
-
Avoid alcohol
-
Avoid strenuous exercise and exposure to extreme heat

Avoid skincare products containing AHAs, retinols and vitamin C
-
Avoid blood-thinning medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen and vitamin E unless prescribed by your doctor

Sleep elevated on 2 to 3 pillows to help minimise swelling, particularly if the lips have been treated
In the first 2 weeks following treatment

Avoid facials, peels and microdermabrasion

Avoid waxing in treated areas
-
Avoid laser treatment in and around treated areas
-
Avoid unnecessary dental procedures
-
Avoid extreme cold exposure including liquid nitrogen in treated areas
Makeup
Once there is no evidence of bleeding, makeup may be applied if necessary. It is best to wait at least 12 hours where possible. Mineral or water-based formulas are preferable.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Side effects and complications are possible following any cosmetic procedure. These vary depending on the treatment performed and the individual. Common side effects include:

Pain, swelling, inflammation and redness

Bruising — Hirudoid cream may help and is available from a pharmacy

Firmness or the sensation of lumps under the skin

Itching
If you are susceptible to cold sores, treatment around the lip area may trigger an outbreak. You may wish to discuss prophylactic options with your pharmacist or GP prior to treatment.
Less common side effects include:

Asymmetry
-
Temporary weakness of a nearby muscle affecting brow or eyelid position

Infection or inflammatory response
-
Flu-like symptoms or headache
In very rare cases, serious complications including vascular occlusion can occur. If you experience sudden and severe pain, significant discolouration or any vision changes following treatment, seek emergency medical attention immediately and contact Malinda on 0410 808 578.
FOLLOW-UP
Any changes following treatment develop gradually and vary between individuals. A follow-up review can be arranged if you have any concerns about your results or experience any unexpected side effects.
